A petrol laden-tanker on Wednesday lost control and swerved into a ditch along the Nise – Agulu Road, Nice Town, Awka South LGA, Anambra State.

However, officials of the Anambra State Fire Service swiftly emerged at the scene of the accident to avert any likely inferno.

It will be recalled that this is the second petrol tanker incident to occur in the state in less than 48 hours.

The initial incident witnessed a fallen tanker at the Abba junction and Igbariam junction area of the state.

In the earlier incident, officials of the Anambra State Fire Service led by its Director, Engr. Martin Agbili and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) combined to clear the area and contain the situation.

It will be recalled that in October alone, petrol tanker incidents had occurred in Upper Iweka, Ochanja Market and Omagba Phase 2 areas of the state, leading to many fatalities.
