An Air Peace flight en route Owerri from Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday had an emergency landing following an engine malfunction.
According to the Corporate Communications Executive, Air Peace, Stanley Olisa, the Boeing 737-500 aircraft with registration number 5N-BUJ left the Lagos Airport at 07:35 am and returned at 8.06 am with 90 passengers and six crew members on board.
Olisa explained that the pilot had aborted the flight while in the air after observing a change in the parameter of one of the engines.
He went on to state that the pilot reported the incident, observed all of the airlines’ safety operational procedures before going back to base.
Safety investigators from the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) confirmed that there were no injuries to any of the flight occupants.
Mr. Tunji Oketunbi, the General Manager, Public Affairs of the AIB, also confirmed that the incident was duly informed of the incident and had begun investigations.
