The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has trained at least 140 personnel on fire disaster management.
The training took place in Awka on Wednesday, May 22.
State Commandant, Obiageli Obiagulu disclosed that before the Federal Government adopted the corps as a security agency, it used to be a voluntary organisation whose mandate was disaster management.
She therefore urged the participants to take advantage of the training to update their knowledge in tackling emerging disaster challenge.
“Now that NSCDC is a security organisation, we changed the name from disaster management to crisis management and every personnel must acquire basic training in fire disaster management,” the commandant said.
Obiagulu disclosed that all departmental heads, divisional officers and other officers of the corps at the command headquarters were involved in the one-day training and urged them to take the exercise seriously.
