The Kano State Fire Service says it received 52 distress calls bordering on collapsed buildings, road crashes, rescue and fire disasters within the last two weeks.
Spokesman of the service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, made this known in the state capital, Kano on Thursday, May 16.
According to Mohammed, 23 calls were received for fire emergencies, 24 for rescue and five false alarms during the period.
He urged residents to exercise caution when using electrical appliances at home or workplaces.
He further advised the residents to refrain from storing petrol and other combustible substances at home or shops.
