One person has been confirmed dead with seven others severely injured in a road crash that occurred along Bauchi-Jos road in Miri Village, close to the Bauchi metropolis on Monday.

Mr Rilwan Sulaiman, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi Sector Command, told newsmen in Bauchi that the accident occurred after a commercial Vectra and Sharon vehicles collided.

Sulaiman confirmed that “the Vectra driver died on the spot”.

He further stated that the Sharon which contained six students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) and their driver, was heading to Bauchi when the collision with the Vectra occurred.

“Our operatives swiftly moved to the scene to rescue the victim and the injured passengers,” Sulaiman said.

He stated that the corpse of the dead victim was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
