The Kano State Fire Service says it saved 106 lives and goods worth N15 million in August.
Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the service, made this disclosure in Kano on Thursday.
Mohammed said there were 20 fire incidents within the month in review.
He stated that seven lives were however lost with N8 million worth of property destroyed.
He further explained that 69 rescue calls and 15 false alarms were recorded in the month in review.
Mohammed stated that the main causes of the fire incidents were: use of substandard electrical materials, improper wiring, careless handling of cooking gas, among others.
He advised residents to desist from storing petroleum products in their houses and purchasing inferior electrical appliances.
Safety Record gathered that in July, 16 lives and goods worth N15 million were saved by the Kano Fire Service.
However, 11 lives were lost with properties worth six million naira destroyed in the 32 fire incidents recorded in that month.
