Fourteen persons have been confirmed dead following a blast at a fireworks factory in India on Wednesday, Indian police authorities have revealed.
According to the police, the said factory is in the northern state of Punjab.
“We have recovered 14 dead bodies,’’ Mukhtiar Singh, a police officer said.
The factory blast is said to have occurred some weeks before Diwali, a Hindu festival which is celebrated by the lighting of millions of firecrackers.
The police said it was still not sure if the factory was a legal facility or an illegal one where safety standards are not prioritised.
