The Enugu Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Thursday announced that 1,396 traffic offenders have been arrested, with 1,484 offences recorded in the state so far in 2019.

The Sector Commander, Mr. Ogbonnaya Kalu, made this revelation in Enugu state.

Kalu said that since January this year, 136 persons have been prosecuted by the command for traffic-related offences.

The commander stated that one offender is still undergoing trial.

He disclosed that there is an increased incidence of underage driving, especially during the festive periods, stating that some teenagers like to impress their peers.

However, Kalu said that the corps has intensified campaigns in churches, mosques and radio stations to combat the menace.

He appealed to road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
