The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has confirmed that five children have been lost to a fire incident that occurred at Abagbo Village in Takwa-Bay, Lagos State.

Bala Elkana, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, identified the victims as Folake Ogundiya, 13; Abigail Ogundiya, 8 Daniel Bakare, 6; Chidinma Achomye, 2; and one-year-old Nnamdi Achomye.

He said that all the victims in the Sunday incident were from the same family.

“The mother of the victims, Mrs Florence Asoye, stated that she left home at about 6.30p.m to Takwa-Bay Jetty only to come back to see her room completely raised by fire.

“She said that she left her children under the care of one Suliat who locked the children in the room and left for an unknown destination,” Elkana said.

Elkana also informed that the Force had already commenced investigation into the cause of the fire.
