The Kwara State Fire Service is set to receive a massive boost from the Kwara state government, the Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has revealed.
The Kwara governor gave this assurance while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 10th National Council on Fire Conference on Thursday.
At the conference tagged “Technology: An imperative for effective service delivery in the fire sector” held at the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin, Abdulrazaq stated that his government had already overseen the rehabilitation of the Unity Fire Station in Ilorin.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mamman Jibril, stressed the importance of boosting the quality of fire service delivery so as to save lives and property.
He vowed that his government will tackle the obstacles bedevilling the smooth operations of the state’s fire service.

The Controller General, Federal Fire Service (FFS), Alhaji Ibrahim Liman, while speaking on flood disaster, called for synergy among National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and National Health Insurance Scheme (NIHISA) in areas of flood predictions.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Interior, Barrister Georgina Ehuriah, pleaded with the local, state and federal governments to help the Fire Service especially in the area of procurement of equipment.
At the end of the event, citizens were urged to adopt safety precautions to avert fire incidents around them.
