Residents of Kaduna State were on Saturday warned by the Ministry of Environment of impending flooding in the state.
This prediction is according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Environment, Ibrahim Husseini, advised residents of flood-prone areas like the River Kaduna, to move to safer places in the state.
“Flood guages have been installed in Unguwar Rimi, Bashama road in Tudun wada and Ungwar Rimi to aid local knowledge, monitoring/forecasting dissemination of information and immediate action in respective communities,” Husseini said.
The commissioner called for collective efforts in combating flood in the state.
He also cautioned residents against clogging drainage systems by dumping refuse in gutters.
Husseini also thanked Christain Aid (CAID), an NGO, for playing a big role in sensitising persons living in flood-prone areas by distributing poster and handbills.
