A bus driver, Segun Daramola, was arraigned at a Zuba Upper Area Court on Monday for reckless driving and subsequently causing harm to an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The prosecutor, Mr Chinese Ogada told the court that the defendant drove a bus with registration number DTF 47 XA recklessly, causing Mr Ikechukwu Odugbara, an officer of the FRSC attached to Gwarinpa, to fall off the vehicle in the line of duty at about 9 a.m.
The prosecutor said the complainant lodged a complaint at the Gwarinpa Police Station on July 22 after sustaining significant injury to his legs and hands.
The actions of the defendant, according to the prosecutor, ran contrary to Sections 122 and 240 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges read against him.

The judge, Alhaji Gambo Garba, set the defendant’s bail at N100, 000.
The judge ordered the defendant to produce one surety who stays in the area within the court’s jurisdiction and has an authentic means of identification.
Garba ordered the defendant to be remanded in Suleja prison pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
The judge adjourned the case till August 28th.
