Properties worth millions have been lost in an inferno that rocked a market on Kosoko Road, Berger Bus-Stop, Ojudu Berger area of Lagos State.

However, there were no casualties recorded in the fire incident that occurred on Monday night.

According to the Director General of the Lagos state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, textile shops, as well as other stores were affected by the fire.

“The incident occurred this night, 22nd July, 2019.

“Several buildings at the market on Kosoko Road, Berger Bus, Ojodu, have been engulfed by fire.

“On arrival of LRT at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that the buildings which housed several shops selling clothing materials and other goods were on fire.

“The actual cause of the fire is not known. The actual loss will be determined upon conducting post-disaster enumeration after the fire has been put out. The operation is still on going.

“Our responders at the scene include: Lagos State Fire Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Police Force and Lagos state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA),” he said.
