A man, Afeez Ramon, has urged the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration to address the menace of open manholes scattered across the popular Bode Thomas Road, Surulere in Lagos.
A manhole is usually an opening to a confined space such as a shaft, utility vault, or large vessel and is often used as an access point for an underground public utility, allowing inspection, maintenance, and system upgrades.
In a tweet on Sunday, Ramon said that thieves had carted away the covers of at least 10 manholes, despite the presence of policemen, operatives of the Lagos Neigbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) and other security outfits in the area.
During my early morning walk yesterday, I could count over 10 manhole covers that have been carted away by men of the underworld on Bode Thomas road, yet we have Police, neighbood watch and other security operatives in Lagos. @jidesanwoolu pay attention to this pic.twitter.com/Gy2v6UXgpw
