Two water packaging factories in Bauchi state have been subjected to disciplinary action by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) over various infractions.
The agency disclosed this in a Saturday, July 20 statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Abubakar Jimoh.
NAFDAC said it shut Ummi Salama Table Water, a package water factory in Azare, Katagum LGA, for operating without registering with the agency.
Jimoh said that the factory was discovered during a routine inspection by the agency’s Bauchi office.
He further disclosed that T-Cee Table Water located in the same area as Ummi Salama Table Water was placed on hold for producing with faulty UV light.

According to him, the Bauchi office of the agency would enforce compliance and ensure that all products regulated by the agency in the state are produced under NAFDAC regulations.
The agency’s spokesman noted that NAFDAC was not out to witch-hunt anybody, but to ensure that all products under its supervision are safe for human consumption.
He said that the sanctions imposed would help deter offenders bent on violating NAFDAC regulations and frustrate the agency’s drive to safeguard the health of Nigerians.
