Road crashes in Edo State claimed 83 lives between January and May 2019, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said.

The Sector Commander of FRSC in Edo State, Mr Anthony Oko, stated this at the Second Quarter Retreat held for corps personnel in Benin on Tuesday, June 25.

Oko said that the fatalities were recorded in 112 road crashes in different routes in the state.

According to him, 421 persons were injured in the various incidents.

The sector commander however said that road crashes in the state had reduced compared to statistics of such incidents during corresponding period in 2018.

Safety Record can report that the retreat was themed, “Corps Visibility, the Basis for Improved Command Performance”.

Speaking on the theme of the retreat, Oko said that it was consistent with periodic review of activities “for positive growth of any institution’’.
