As part of events to celebrate the 5th United Nations Global Road Safety Week and West Africa Road Safety Organisation Week (WARSO) Week, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) organised a sensitisation road walk in Anambra over the weekend.

The road walk which kicked off at the FRSC Headquarters Awka, through to the Amawbia Junction to Kwata Junction, before ending at the Corps Headquarters, along Enugu- Onitsha expressway Awka, saw the Nigeria Prisons, OCHA Brigade; Anambra Traffic Management Agency; Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps; Transport Company Of Anambra State Ltd. (TRACAS), among other agencies partake.

Sector Head of Operations of the Corps, Mr. Anthony Okere, while speaking after the road walk, said that the Corps had increased its campaign drive geared towards sensitising road users and school children on road safety.

The Managing Director of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra – OCHA Brigade, Mr Patrick Obiefuna, advised the genaral public to work hand in hand with the FRSC to reduce road crashes to its bare minimum.

Barrister Emma Nwakeze, the State Controller of Nigeria Prisons, emphasized that road safety was the responsibility of every well meaning Nigerian, saying that all hands needed to be on deck.
