The Public Relations Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kano State, Kabiru Ibrahim, has confirmed that 16 persons died in a recent road accident in the state.
According to an eyewitness, three vehicles were involved in the accident which occured at 7:30 pm on Friday in Tukai Village in the Dambatta Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the vehicles were coming from three different directions before they had a head-on collision.
“There was an accident involving a 406 Peugeot, Volkswagen Golf and Honda Accord, which happened at about 7pm (on Friday). All victims, including the drivers, died in the crash,” the witness said.
Ibrahim blamed the crash on “speed limit violation and subsequent loss of control by the drivers”.
He disclosed that a police Police Rescue team that visited the scene of the incident recovered N579,000 and 10,000 CFA Franc cash.
The FRSC spokesman stated that the cash would be handed over to relatives of the victims once they have been identified.
