Indigenous oil firm, Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited says it would not compromise on safety of staff and host communities and protection of its operating environment.
The company gave the assurance in a statement to commemorate its 2019 HSE Week tagged “Safety – My Responsibility”.
Waltersmith further reaffirmed its commitment to the achievement of its “goal zero” target through the implementation of stringent safety regime to drive down risks associated with oil and gas operations.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Abdulrazaq Isa said that the HSE Week was an opportunity to remind staff and contractors to take safety as personal responsibility to enable the company achieve the target.
He said, “As a company, we are committed to full implementation of our safety policies. We will support all staff/support staff and contractors in taking time to work safely.
“We will address every safety concern promptly.
“If you stop a job for safety reasons, we will back you up. If there is an incidence, we will fully investigate and share the lessons learnt to prevent recurrence.
“We will recognise any staff that reports the highest number of near misses.”
