The Kano State Fire Service says it saved 164 lives and property worth N650 million in April.
Public Relations Officer of the service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed disclosed this in a Thursday, May 2 statement.
He said that the state recorded 89 fire incidents within the month, which caused 11 fatalities and destroyed property worth N236 million.
However, Mohammed said that the service rescued 164 individuals and N650 million worth of property.
While citing the use of below quality electrical appliances and careless handling of these appliances as major causes of the fire incidents, the PRO advised the general public to be safety conscious and to also desist from storing large amounts of petrol and its derivatives at home as this causes outbreak of fire.
