In a bid to ensure air safety through enhancement of clear communication between pilots and air traffic controllers, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) says it has put plans in place to secure Very High Frequency (VHF) radio equipment in eight sites in Nigeria.

The spokesman of NAMA, Khalid Emele, said the goal of the project is to boost the country’s air radio communication system.

According to him, “This is to ensure that communication challenges experienced by pilots in some parts of the airspace are totally eliminated.”

Emele identified the sites where the VHF radios will be secured as Lagos, Kano, Wukari, Sokoto, Ilorin, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Maiduguri.
