The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has reiterated its call against bush burning to forestall fire incidents.

The Assistant Controller General (ACG), FCT Fire Service, Julius Opetunsin, kicked against random bush burning in the capital at the commencement of the ‘Dry Season Campaign’ holding at the Etsu Garki Palace in Abuja on Wednesday, April 17.

He noted that if bush burning had to be done at all, it had to be supervised to prevent the surrounding environment from being affected.

According to him, “Fire outbreaks are still one of the leading disasters Nigerians face and the fire service cannot stop creating awareness on the dangers associated with fire.

“Destruction from fire outbreaks on farms and other properties are always colossal, therefore all hands must be on deck to curtail its occurrences.

“Controlled bush burning will help protect your property and that of your neighbours.”

Sakpyi Garki, Mr Usman Ngakupyi, hailed the the fire service’s campaign, saying it was important to sensitise the people on the dangers of bush burning.
