The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello, has advised the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to hand down stiffer sanctions to drivers who run afoul of traffic rules.
The minister said this at the commissioning of 73 FRSC operational vehicles in Abuja on Tuesday, April 16.
While giving a nod to the FRSC’s routine road patrols that help curb overspeeding and disregard for traffic lights and signs, he, however, advised the FRSC to ensure that offending drivers be made to pay fines in order to deter them from repeating the acts.
Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal of the FRSC, thanked the FCT minister and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for assisting the commission with the vehicles.
The Corps Marshal called on road users to work hand in hand with the FRSC in achieving safer roads in the country.
