Information reaching Safety Record indicates that the Imo State House of Assembly has set up a committee to investigate the root cause of the April 8 fire incident at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.

The committee comprises member representing Ngor Okpala Constituency,  Obinna Egu (Chairman); member representing Ahiazu constituency Ken Agbim; member representing Ezinihitte constituency, Ukoha Buruno; member representing Owerri North constituency, Chukwuemeka Lloyd; and member representing Isu constituency, Ngozi Obiefule.

The Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, said, “The committee will visit the airport to ascertain the extent of damages and access the cause of the fire incident and get back to the house.

“The committee should arrange the visit to the airport and get back to the house and present their findings on April 16, 2019.”
