The Kano Sate Fire Service has onfirmed a fire outbreak at the Kurmin Yan-nama Market which affected 35 shops.

The spokesman of the service, Saidu Mohammed, said that the incident occurred at 4:56 am.

Mohammed called on traders and residents to be safety aware, and avoid behaviours that could fire outbreak.

He further called on traders to provide fire buckets and extinguishers in their shops for easy control of fire.

Speaking concerning the fire which damaged 27 shops and partly damaged 8 others, Mohammed said, “We received a distress call in the early hours of Sunday, April 14 at about 04:56 a.m from one Ado Musa that there was fire outbreak at the market.

“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our personnel and firefighting vehicles to the scene of the incident at about 05:03 a.m to stop the fire from spreading to other shops.“
